Nov 2022
Thank you all DufferinCaledon Green volunteers!
Over the course of two days, Ontarians from across the province came together to protest Doug Ford’s destructive Bill 23. In Orangeville on Friday November 25th local environmental heroes gathered in protest in front of MPP Sylvia Jones’s office. And on Saturday, over 700 Ontario Greens from across the province went door to door in their communities, informing their neighbours about Bill 23. Locally, both in Shelburne, Inglewood, and Valleywood, we collected hundreds upon hundreds of signatures to save the Greenbelt. Below is a photo of the Inglewood contingent of #handsofthegreenbelt!
Clockwise from bottom right (Laura Campbell, Mary-Anne, Genevieve, Alan, Jeff, Bryanna, Will, Gord, and Melanie). Thank you to everyone who came out! Thank you to Leah Pressey for leading the Shelburne group, and Melissa for knocking on doors in Valleywood!
While we Greens stick to our principles (Pub Night = Beer + Food + Friends), we are changing it up a bit this time. I'm proud to announce that we'll have a guest speaker (short speech in order not to compromise the above principle too much) from FAIR VOTE CANADA
Sharon Sommerville will make us acquainted with this outstanding organisation which is one of the most vocal proponents of a fairer electoral system for Canada.
Please vote YES for the next pub night by clicking on the RSVP button.
Wednesday, 7th of December, 6PM, at The Taphouse in Orangeville, Mill Street.
As we are talking about Non-For-Profit-Organizations that align with our values, I would like to draw your attention to our friends at the Coalition for the West Credit River While the Ford Government dismantles our green spaces for the sake of reckless development, they do not stop at destroying part of the UNESCO Niagara Exscarpment World Biosphere Reserve. Please pitch in by donating to support the preservation of the river's habitat.
See you at the pub,
Cheers,
Stefan Wiesen, President Dufferin Caledon Greens
